When DJ and producer Markus Homm steps behind the decks, he exudes an unmistakable confidence, born from his deep understanding of how to move the dance floor. His precise and energetic rhythms have a clear goal: to immerse the audience in the moment and get their bodies moving to the beat.
Markus, born in Romania and raised in Germany, has been deeply connected to music and movement from a young age. At 12, he began ballroom dancing and went on to become a world-class professional dancer. However, it was his passion for electronic music that truly blossomed during his teenage years in the mid-90s, when house music dominated the charts, radio, and television.
“One of my first nights at my local club, I saw Ultra Naté perform ‘Free’,” Markus recalls. “I got hooked on that sound, full of vocals, rhythms, and very happy, positive music.”
As a teenager in the analog era, Markus would go to clubs on Thursdays and then visit record stores on Fridays to find out what the DJ had played. “I would spend an hour picking out a record,” he says. “It was always about the music.” He soon bought a turntable to listen to vinyl, and later another one, beginning his journey as a DJ. Today, Markus performs on stages around the world, from Berlin and Tokyo to the United States, Thailand, and Australia.
Since his official debut release in 2008, Markus has maintained a prolific career with releases on prestigious labels such as Highgrade, Dynamic, 8bit, Poker Flat, Bondage Music, Saved Records, Bedrock, and Still Hot. His music, a constant blend of styles and stories, delivers a unique and exciting sound that emotionally connects with audiences.
